Tragic last photo of boy, 5, taken moments before he drowned at holiday park

A devastated dad has shared the final pictures taken of his five-year-old son before he drowned at a holiday park in Cornwall.

Robin Caliskan tragically died at the Atlantic Reach holiday park in Newquay on Monday (July 31) after getting into trouble in a swimming pool.

The family had only been at the resort for about an hour before the tragedy occurred.

Now Robin’s father Cemal, 35, has shared the last two pictures taken of Robin on the day he died, the MailOnline reports.

In one of the pictures Robin is sat inside the tent they pitched before going swimming, and in the other he’s posing with his six-month-old baby brother Renas in the pool.

Cemal says his boy got into trouble a short time later, but ‘low lighting’ and ‘barriers’ meant the parents didn’t notice immediately.

He and mum Ferzane, also 35, paid tribute to their ‘cute and clever’ little boy and said they are ‘grateful for all the messages’ they have received since their son’s death was reported.

They also issued a stark warning to fellow parents, saying: ‘He was intelligent and his handwriting, he could write with both hands.

‘I want every parent to see this story, this can’t happen again.

‘We are suffering pain and we don’t want any parents to have a similar feeling.

‘We just wanted to share this to stop it happening again, to any other parents and any other children.’

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious, but an investigation is ongoing alongside Cornwall council’s health and safety department to establish the circumstances around Robin’s death.

Atlantic Reach has also said their thoughts are with Robin’s family. 

A statement issued on behalf of the resort said: ‘We do not feel it is appropriate to comment further at this stage, except to say our thoughts are with the family at this time.

‘Atlantic Reach is committed to supporting our guests and community, as well as our team that provided immediate assistance.

‘As such we respectfully ask that all those affected are given time and space at this distressing time.’
