Party actually behind Man Utd takeover delay revealed amid claims process has paused
The sale process for Manchester United is still very much ongoing, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Reports from yesterday claimed that the takeover is on hold, but the former CBS Sports journalist claims that is not the case.
He revealed that the bidders are waiting for further communication and are ready for the next step if chosen by Man United.
However, those close to sellers insist the Qataris are in fact behind the delays.
It appears that the Raine Group and Qatar do not get along, which has complicated the takeover process.
The Glazers have always regarded Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani as their preferred choice, and they reportedly contacted Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to persuade the Qatar Islamic Bank chairman to increase his bid.
Sheikh Jassim initially consulted the PSG chief for advice on the club’s valuation, but he is yet to submit the £6 billion the Glazers want.
The takeover will not be completed before the new season starts even if a preferred bidder were to be named this week.
It appears that the Man United owners and the buyers are also more than happy to wait until the summer transfer window shuts before resuming negotiations.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claimed last week that developments on the potential sale of the club are expected this week after the team returns from their pre-season tour.
However, there has been no form of clarification yet, and Man United fans are getting increasingly frustrated.
