Coronation Street’s Sarah Platt gets devastating news about her baby – and another bombshell
SARAH Platt has been given devastating news about her baby in tonight’s Coronation Street – and another brutal blow.
The mum of two – who is played by actress Tina O’Brien in the ITV soap – was expecting Damon Hay’s baby, but tonight she received heartbreaking news.
Having been exposed as a liar Sarah ended up humiliated and alone – but was determined to save her marriage to Adam Barlow.
She went to see him at work in another attempt to save her dying marriage – but they ended up rowing once more.
But while they were arguing, Sarah was overcome with stomach pains.
Adam refused to believe that anything was wrong and accused her of putting it on.
Doubling over in pain outside, Sarah was helped into a cab by Maria and rushed to the hospital.
At the hospital, Sarah was having an ultrasound but the volume had been turned down so she couldn’t hear anything.
She asked the nurse: “Where’s the heartbeat? Is my baby OK? Please can you tell me?”
But the nurse asked Sarah to wait while she got a doctor to check what she was seeing.
She told Sarah: “I’m so sorry Sarah but you’ve lost the baby.”
The nurse went on to explain Sarah’s options – how she could go home and wait for the baby to pass naturally, or she could take a pill and have surgical intervention at the hospital.
With her history with losing baby Billy and her postpartum psychosis, Sarah was desperate to be able to draw a line under her ordeal.
But as she waited for surgery, Adam arrived to support her through it.
He gave her hope that they had a future – before later taking it all away.
Arriving at the flat to check on her, Adam made sure she was OK before dropping his bombshell: “It hasn’t changed anything Sarah, too much has happened.
“I’ve behaved appallingly, I can’t undo what I’ve done but I haven’t been myself in weeks. The trust is gone and I can’t get over it.”
He added: “The truth is our marriage was dead the minute you slept with Damon. It’s been death by a thousand cuts ever since.
“I’m a monster, I know the timing but I can’t stick around because I’m worried about what other people think about me. For my own self-respect, I want a divorce.”
