Apart from tomatoes, the prices of other food items have also increased due to supply shortage. The Ministry of Food and Consumer Affairs mentioned in a parliamentary session that tur dal, rice, urad dal, and atta have experienced maximum price increases of 28%, 10.5%, 8% each, respectively, in the past year. The Ministry attributed the rise in tur dal prices to a reduction in domestic production.
