Stuart Broad barred from entering Lord’s to start first day of new job following retirement from cricket
STUART BROAD was barred from entering Lord’s to start the first day of his new job.
The England legend is in a new role after retiring from cricket at the end of the Ashes.
Broad took the final two wickets of the fifth Test on Monday as he ended his glittering career.
He has now started a new job with Sky Sports as part of their cricket coverage.
However, he faced difficulties on his first day as he arrived at Lord’s on Wednesday.
Despite having Sky Sports accreditation, Broad tried to gain access to the ground with his player pass.
This failed, though, as he had already been deactivated on the ECB system.
His day would get worse too, with rain delaying the match between the London Spirit and Oval Invincibles in The Hundred.
Broad looked glum as they waited for the toss in the studio, with the covers on the pitch behind him.
He has reflected on his career since retiring at the start of the week, bowing out in fairy-tale circumstances with his two wickets.

His partner Mollie King was seen cheering him on in the crowd as he dismissed the final two Australian batsman to win the fifth test for England.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he revealed: “I woke up and saw a clip of headband-wearing fans in the crowd celebrating a wicket, and I was like, ‘Wow’.
“I’ve always worn my heart on my sleeve but it was seeing what it meant to other people that got me.”
Broad’s long-term future with Sky Sports is still to be decided and will be finalised at the end of the season.
In the meantime, he will continue to cover The Hundred and limited-overs cricket for the remainder of the campaign.
