Elon Musk says X will pay the legal fees of users who are 'unfairly treated' by their boss for liking or posting content on the platform

Elon Musk has once again stoked the fire of a simmering culture war on his social media platform X, after apparently offering to cover the legal fees of anyone fired for content they post on the site.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the CEO said: "If you were unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform, we will fund your legal bill. No limit. Please let us know."
The controversial X account "Libs of TikTok" replied to Musk's tweet by citing a Daily Wire article from January, which said streamer Kara Lynne was fired from her job at a gaming company for reasons that included her following the account.
It caught the attention of Musk, who replied: "Kara, is that accurate?"
Lynne replied to Musk saying that the situation was more complicated than the headline suggested, but still confirmed it was correct.
Musk was vocal about the apparent presence of a "woke mind virus" since he launched his initial bid to buy Twitter early last year, and has shared content rallying against some left-leaning social causes, including trans rights.
In June, the world's richest man also tweeted that terms like "cis" and "cisgender" were now considered slurs on the site.
It's common for employees to lose their jobs after posting or visibly endorsing offensive content on social media platforms, though not just for controversial activity related to social issues.
In May, California tech worker Michelle Serna was fired after posting a video on TikTok while a meeting went on in the background.
