Former Finance and Education Minister of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam has filed his application to contest the presidential election next month. Shanmugaratnam launched his presidential campaign in July with a promise to cultivate Singapore's culture to ensure it remains a global "shining spot". Other potential candidates who have submitted their applications for eligibility are former GIC investment chief Ng Kok Song, entrepreneur George Goh, and former presidential candidate Tan Kin Lian.
