Team Canada roster: Meet the biggest threat to Team USA at the 2023 FIBA World Cup
Although the United States is considered the biggest powerhouse in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Canada offers some intriguing competition.
Team USA (-105) is currently the favorite to win the tournament, per DraftKings. Canada (+400), however, has the next-best odds. Slovenia (+900), and Australia (+900) are projected after the two North American national teams.
Led by new head coach Jordi Hernandez, Canada’s roster has several NBA players suiting up, including Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Canada’s roster currently includes 14 players, but only 13 will travel to Germany as they begin scrimmages later this week. Nuggets guard Jamal Murray is reportedly hopeful to return to the roster before Canada plays during an exhibition against Spain on August 17.
They will officially begin the tournament against France on August 25. Here are the players expected to play for Canada:
