A committee of the Indian Parliament on Law and Justice has called for judges of the higher judiciary to be required to furnish annual property returns. The report also noted that the higher judiciary reflected a “diversity deficit” which ought to be addressed by increasing the number of candidates from marginalised backgrounds, including women and minorities.
