The Supreme Court has started a final hearing on petitions challenging the Gujarat government’s decision to grant remission to 11 convicts in the 2002 Godhra riots case. The convicts had been found guilty of gang-raping Bilkis Bano and murdering her family members. Bano has also contested the state’s decision to allow the premature release of the 11 convicts.
