The bargain hunter shared his expertise on Facebook, whipping up a delicious dish with ingredients available in the shops for just 37p.
GOLDEN CRISP I make amazing 37p potatoes in my air fryer its so quick and easy but theres an important step everyone forgets John Carter Facebook – roast potatoes[/caption]John Carter revealed how he took a cheap tin of potatoes from his local Morrisons supermarket and instead of boiling them in the hob he cooked them in an air fryer.
And the ingredients he added were not only the usual oil and herbs, but also an extra touch of garlic.
He posted approvingly: “They turned out well.”
While the potatoes can be done on the hob for three to four minutes, he suggested 15 minutes in an air fryer at 200 degrees for tastiest results.
And many people reading his recipe have given the thumbs-up after it was widely shared online.
The tin he used is from the Morrisons Savers Potatoes range, with the spuds from Belgium costing just 37p while weighing in at 360g when drained – said to be enough to serve three.
His suggestion has been liked more than 4,200 times after he shared it in a Facebook group called “Extreme Bargaining And Coupons UK”.
One commenter Rebecca Aitchison posted: “I’m trying this today. I’ve had a tin of these for a while and didn’t know what to do with them.”
Yasmin Marie O’Farrell wrote: “They look fab, great idea.”
And Tom Church, co-founder of consumer website LatestDeals.co.uk, also praised the suggestion.
He said: “Morrisons Savers Potatoes are a hidden gem for those seeking affordable meal options.
“John’s air fryer method is an ingenious way to elevate the taste without breaking the bank- it’s like turning humble potatoes into golden nuggets of joy.”
Exclusive recipes have been published by The Sun this week from a new book packed with healthy recipes to prepare in air fryers.

Other devotees of air fryer potatoes include a TikToker from London who revealed an essential extra and often-forgotten step of her own.
A fellow foodie took a similar approach, this time using a 39p tin from Tesco – while another TikToker tried two different approaches to roasting potatoes in her air fryer and judged which was best.
Not everyone is a fan, however, as another chef revealed.
Alternative recent recipes for air fryers have included a five-minute dessert, a sweet chilli chicken wrap and a quickly-cooked lasagna.
Unlike a fat fryer, where food is submerged in hot oil, an air fryer uses convection to heat and cook your meal.
It is similar to a fan oven and can bake and roast but the heating elements are located at the top.
Air fryers also have a fan that help to cook up your food in no time.
There also been tips on how to keep them clean, including from an appliance pro as well as a self-proclaimed “lazy girl”.
