The head of Indiana’s dominant Republican Party has announced his resignation after leading the party for 6/12 years. Kyle Hupfer informed the members of the Indiana Republican State Committee on Friday of his intention to step down once a successor is elected by the party. The party controls the governor's office, both of Indiana's U.S. Senate seats, seven of the state’s nine congressional districts and has supermajorities in both chambers of the General Assembly. It also holds more than 90% of all county-elected offices across the state. In 2019, 19 mayoral offices in Indiana flipped to Republicans.
