Juveniles trying to escape custody damage van taking them to Hartford detention center
Two teenagers tried escaping from custody in a transport van while being brought to the Juvenile Detention Center in Hartford Tuesday.
The two juveniles, ages 15 and 17, damaged the transit van during their failed escape attempt at about 3:33 p.m., according to Connecticut State Police.
The teens were charged with criminal attempt to commit escape from custody, disorderly conduct and first-degree criminal mischief, state police said. They were expected to appear in the Hartford Juvenile Matters courthouse on Wednesday.
State police said additional information could not be released because the two arrested are minors.
