Controversial Spain women’s manager Jorge Vilda ‘targeted for Saudi Arabia job with sack imminent’
CONTROVERSIAL Spain manager Jorge Vilda is reportedly being lined up to take charge of Saudi Arabia’s women’s team.
That’s with the World Cup winner on the brink of being sacked following Luis Rubiales’ kissgate scandal.
Vilda led Spain to glory in Australia with a 1-0 win over England in the Women’s World Cup final.
But the result has since been overshadowed by Spanish FA president Rubiales’ behaviour on the podium.
He kissed player Jenni Hermoso without her consent as she collected her gold medal.
And it has sparked a huge fallout in his homeland, with Spain’s players refusing to be called up for next month’s internationals.
All of the coaching staff have left their positions too.
And FA chiefs are now looking to remove Vilda from his position as manager with immediate effect after he applauded a defiant speech made by Rubiales last week.
The tactician was already a controversial figure long before Spain’s triumph Down Under, with his management style leading to 15 players boycotting the tournament.
Spanish chiefs feel his show of support for Rubiales is the final straw.

However, Vilda could be set for a swift return to the beautiful game.
Sport claims Saudi Arabia are looking to make their women’s team one of the best on the planet.
Billions of pounds are currently being pumped into the domestic club game.
And Premier League winner Roberto Mancini is the new boss of Saudi Arabia’s men’s side.
It’s believed Vilda is the top choice to take charge of the women’s team.
But Spanish chiefs must first find a way to remove him from his current post in a legal manner.
