Man Kills Girlfriend and Her Unborn Baby When She Refuses to Get Abortion

They say abortion supposedly empowers women, but the reality over the years since abortion was first legalized in the United States is that it empowers abusive men who restore to violence when their wife or girlfriend refuses to have an abortion they want.

Often times women want to have their baby but a male partner doesn’t want the responsibility of a father and suggests an abortion. When the suggestion is refused, it turns into a demand. And when that demand is refused, frequently violence occurs and the husband or boyfriend assaults or murders his partner.

That’s what happened in North Carolina.

On Nov. 11, 2022, 19-year-old Kaylin Fiengowas shot do death in the front seat of her vehicle. Fiengo was pregnant and near the end of her first trimester and also had a little boy.

Donovan Faison, her boyfriend at the time, met her at a park one day after spending weeks arguing about his request for her to have an abortion. That was the last day Kaylin was alive. Her refusal to kill her baby cost them both their lives.

Faison wanted Fiengo to terminate the pregnancy, according to the release. Police did not release whether Faison was the father of the unborn child.

Police said Fiengo had refused to have an abortion, and her refusal was the “probable motive” for the shooting. On Aug. 29, police took Faison into custody and charged him with two counts of felony homicide; one for Fiengo and one for her unborn child. “This beautiful, young woman and mother, was taken from this world far too soon, and in a horrific way,” Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said in the release. “We hope that today’s arrest brings the slightest amount of peace for Kaylin’s family and the young son she left behind. It doesn’t bring her back, but at least she will have the justice she deserves.”

The young woman had her whole life ahead of her, as did her unborn child.

During the ten months it took investigators to eventually identity Faison as her likely killer, Sanford police Chief Cecil Smith had called the pregnant woman’s death, ‘infuriating,’ describing Fiengo as ‘a young mother who had her whole life ahead of her.’

‘Today’s events come after a long, almost ten months, of an exhaustive investigation,’ the police chief said in a statement. ‘Our investigators have made sure every possible shred of evidence was processed and analyzed in order to bring Kaylin’s killer to justice.’

Fiengo also had a 1-year-old son named Ace and was a devoted mother, her parents said at the time of her death.

‘Though Kaylin faced [many] challenges that set her apart from her peers in many ways, she made friends everywhere she went,’ the teen’s obituary states. ‘Kaylin loved spending time with her son, siblings, and friends. Kaylin really was a fun-loving child and had an old soul.’Smith said she hoped Faison’s arrest would bring some closure to the victim’s family.

‘This beautiful, young woman and mother, was taken from this world far too soon, and in a horrific way,’ Smith said. ‘We hope that today’s arrest brings the slightest amount of peace for Kaylin’s family and the young son she left behind. It doesn’t bring her back, but at least she will have the justice she deserves.’

Mothers frequently are forced or coerced to abort their unborn babies, and sometimes their decisions to protect their babies’ lives lead to abuse. A 2022 BBC survey found 15 percent of women of childbearing age in the United Kingdom felt pressured to have abortions that they did not want.

Often the pressure comes from an intimate partner. Another recent study from Lifeway Research found 42 percent of men whose partners had abortions said they either “strongly urged” or “suggested” that she have an abortion. In 2009, research by the Elliot Institute found 64 percent of post-abortive women said they felt pressured to have an abortion, often from a spouse or partner.

Another 2014 study found that forced abortions are common among sex trafficking victims. In “The Health Consequences of Sex Trafficking and Their Implications for Identifying Victims in Healthcare Facilities,” researchers found that 55 percent of sex trafficking victims had at least one abortion, with more than half saying they were forced to abort one or more unborn babies.

Studies also have found high rates of violent abuse among women seeking abortions and pregnant women. Often, abuse also is connected to a mother’s refusal to abort her unborn child.
