Jason Donovan confirms he turned down huge role on new Neighbours reboot after reunion with Kylie Minogue for finale
JASON Donovan has revealed he turned down a massive role on the Neighbours reboot.
The actor singer, 55, starred in the original series of the Australian alongside Kylie Minogue.
Jason played the role of Scott Robinson while superstar Kylie, 55, portrayed Charlene Robinson.
The pair both departed Neighbours in the late 80s before returning for the final episode on Channel 5 last year.
Now Jason has revealed he was invited by soap bosses to appear on the rebooted version.
Speaking to Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2 the Especially for You star said he was offered the chance at recording the new theme tune.
He told: “They asked me about recording the Neighbours theme tune for this new version.”
As Scott got his hopes up and asked if he was doing it, Jason finished his setence.
He said: “…and I declined, because I felt the moment had happened – we did it.”
Scott replied: “They can’t change it now, can they?! It’s gotta be the same, but different.”
Donovan answered: “No, [but] I don’t even know what it is! Maybe a trance version?!”
When pushed if he’d still decline the offer, Jason admitted he would.
The brand new series of Neighbours kicks off on September 18th on Amazon Freevee.
