Novato police arrest suspected mail thieves
Novato police have arrested three suspects in a mail theft investigation in the Hamilton neighborhood.
The investigation started at about 2 a.m. Tuesday, when residents at the Bay Vista Apartments called police to report the theft as it was happening. Police intercepted a vehicle containing three people and a large amount of allegedly stolen mail.
Police said two people in the car had U.S. Postal Service keys, and the mail was addressed to dozens of residents in Novato.
Police booked the suspects — Ramon Keo, 35, of San Rafael; Mary Elizabeth Conde, 28, of Sacramento; and Analilia Acosta, 42, of San Rafael — into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of identity theft, conspiracy and burglary. The bail amount was set at $110,000 each.
The Novato Police Department said it is investigating the case with postal inspectors. Residents who suspect their mail was stolen can call 415-897-4361.
