MAFS star April Banbury unable to walk and in agony after serious spinal injury
MARRIED at First Sight star April Banbury has been left unable to walk and in agony after spinal surgery.
The TV star, who appeared on last year’s series of the hit E4 show, has revealed she’s been diagnosed with a serious condition.
April has told how lifting a heavy object resulted in her injury her back.
She ultimately suffered a prolapsed disc which has taken away her ability ‘to live a normal life’.
April explained to the MailOnline: “I literally just lifted something heavy in the wrong way and ended up like this. It was so unexpected and couldn’t believe it could cause such a severe injury.
“My ability to live a normal life has been taken away from me and I am now classified as having a disability.
“I’ve gone from being a super sociable busy and adventurous woman always loving my life to the fullest to quite literally being a hermit. For weeks now I have been house bound because I haven’t been able to walk.
“I will slowly be regaining that ability to walk more than a few steps pain free and am able to stand for short periods of time.
“Sitting is the most painful and lying down gives me the most relief, but I need to keep my muscles moving as much as I can.”
April’s spinal disc has protruded and split into her nerves, meaning she now suffers pain all over her lower back and experiences numbness.
She continued by saying some days her body feels so heavy she can barely lift her legs or right arm.
To aide her recovery, April now wears a back support brace and has started undergoing IDD therapy.
The treatment, which is considered an alternative to surgery, is non-invasive and designed for people with chronic back and neck pain.
April also revealed her family and friends have rallied around to support her.
She said: “I’m so grateful for the incredible support, but it’s been extremely upsetting not being able to even do the simplest of things in life like stand and brush my teeth without being in agony.”
