Wrong-way driver kills one, injures six on I-70 West
COLUMBUS (WCMH) – One person has died and several people have been hospitalized in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 early Monday morning.
According to police dispatchers, I-70 West is currently closed after a wrong-way driver caused the death of one person injuring at six others on I-70 East near James Road. The crash, which involved an unknown number of vehicles, occurred at 1:58 a.m.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, two people are in stable condition and one in critical were taken to Ohio State East Hospital, two people are listed in serious condition at Grant Medical Center and one person is listed in extremely critical condition at Grant.
A large portion of I-70 westbound is closed for an undetermined amount of time between the Interstate 270 Road exit exchange and the East Livingston Avenue exit. Drivers will have to detour into or through Columbus by using I-270 North to Interstate 670 West, or by using I-270 south outer belt.
