Crocs and Levi’s Will Release Sashiko Denim Clogs This Week
Crocs and Levi’s are bringing Jocs to the world this week through two pairs of denim clogs.
The All-Terrain Clog arrives with denim decorated by Sashiko, a traditional form of Japanese embroidery used for mending or reinforcement. Options for both dark and light washes come to silhouette, with each version getting its own Sashiko pattern. The dark denim features a series of octagons that wouldn’t have looked out of place in the ’70s, while the light denim host Xs not unlike flowers. Japanese Levi’s branding is also printed onto the footbed, while silver strap rivets nod to the hardware you’d find on jeans. Of course, the shoes wouldn’t be complete without a red tab, which hangs off the shoe’s lateral side.
A Classic Clog will also release as part of the collection, albeit without any denim to be found. Instead, the foam clog takes on a tie-dye pattern in blue and white. A series of Jibbitz are also included and take on the hippie aesthetics of the ’70s.
In the lead-up to this collection’s release, Levi’s and Crocs enlisted Proleta Re Art, a Japanese designer specializing in one-of-one pieces made from upcycled denim, for a super-limited run of All-Terrain Clogs. Just 60 pairs were made with dead stock denim from Cone Mills’ esteemed (and now-shuttered) White Oak factory. Each pair was hand-made with one-of-a-kind paisley treatments. None went on sale, though, as the shoes were made for promotional purposes only.
The denim All-Terrain Clogs and denimless Classic Clogs are slated to release Tuesday, Sept. 19 through Crocs’ website, and then Thursday, Sept. 21, through Levi’s website and select additional retailers. Pricing for the All-Terrain Clogs is set at $85, while the Classic Clog’s cost hasn’t yet been announced.
