My tried-and-tested method will slash time spent waiting at airport pick-up – you’ll wonder why you hadn’t thought of it
A FREQUENT flyer has shared a tip for slashing airport pick-up times in half – and many are hailing it as genius.
Lindsay Mukaddam often shares travel tips and tricks on TikTok, but her latest piece of advice has amazed viewers.
She said: “Come to the departures level if the arrival level is completely slammed with cars.
“Because then the person who’s picking you up can get up here with no issues, and they don’t have to wait in line.”
Lindsay joked: “I may look like crud after a 20 plus hour travel day, but at least I don’t have to wait a moment longer to get home.”
The piece of advice may not work at all airports, but Lindsay said it works well at the Austin, Texas, airport.
She explained to Newsweek: “I found out about this hack because the Austin airport actually has signs during busy travel times encouraging travellers to use both levels for pickups and drop-offs.
“Not everyone pays attention to this, but those who do listen to this advice have a shorter wait time.”
But if you’re travelling through an airport without separate arrival and departure areas, the hack won’t work.
Last month, a mum revealed a simple trick which could allow you to get free drinks and snacks at airports.
You can get a free pass for up to four people at loads of airport lounges, if your mobile phone provider is O2 or your broadband provider is Virgin Media.
All you need to do is register your flights in advance using a link on O2 Priority.
You’ll then be sent a LoungeKey Pass voucher by email or text message to use if your outbound or inbound flights are delayed.
There are no roaming fees with O2, so you can use your minutes and data in most European countries for no extra cost.
And, if you’re a frequent flyer, you can claim one SmartDelay code a month on O2 Priority.
At some airports, you can choose to use the voucher to take £15 off your food and drink bill instead of accessing a lounge.
For example, if you fly from Gatwick’s south terminal, you can get £15 off your bill at the Grain Store Cafe and Bar.
