Hangzhou, Oct 6: It was another outstanding and historic day for the Indian contingent, as they assured 100 medals. The Indian men’s cricket team outclassed Bangladesh in their semi-final fixture and will play Afghanistan in a gold medal match. In sepak takraw, Indian women’s claimed a historic bronze medal. In archery, India bagged two more medals today.
The bronze medal was won in the women’s recurve match, and the silver medal was bagged by the men’s team. In the bridge event, Indian men go down against Hong Kong as they settle for a silver medal. India’s ace shuttler, HS Prannoy, also claimed a bronze medal in the men’s badminton event.
In wrestling, Sonam Malik outclassed China’s Jia Long to win bronze in the women’s wrestling freestyle 62kg event. Kiran and Aman also won bronze in their respective categories. The Indian Kabaddi team thrashed Pakistan to enter the final, whereas the Indian women’s Kabaddi team scripted an easy 61-17 win over Nepal to seal a final berth.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty made history by becoming the first-ever Indian pair to enter the final at the Asian Games. The Indian men’s hockey team thrashed Japan by 5-1 to clinch the gold medal and also earn their qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics. At the end of the day, India’s medal tally swells to 95.
