Officer-involved shooting in Wallingford under investigation
An officer-involved shooting in Wallingford early Monday is under investigation.
The incident was reported at about 2:49 a.m. on North Airline Road, according to the Wallingford Police Department. The area consists of single-family residential homes.
North Airline Road was closed early Monday from the 100 block through the Pauline Court intersection while authorities investigated, police said.
Wallingford police said the shooting is being investigated by the Office of Inspector General, the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office and the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad. The Inspector General is leading the investigation, which is done following any officer-involved shooting in the state under the police accountability law.
“This incident is under active investigation and no other information is available at this time,” Wallingford Lt. Stephen Jaques said in a statement.
Jaques said any additional information would have to come from the Inspector General or in coordination with his office.
