San Rafael man, 44, charged with child molestation
A San Rafael man was arraigned Monday on a charge he molested a child younger than 14.
Juan Guzman Perez, 44, and the alleged victim both live in the Canal neighborhood, said San Rafael police Lt. Scott Eberle. Police allege that Guzman committed the crime on Oct. 8 when the child’s parents were away.
The Marin County District Attorney’s Office filed a criminal complaint Friday charging Guzman with committing a lewd act on a child, a felony. Guzman turned himself in to authorities on Friday, and police booked him into the Marin County Jail. His bail amount was set at $100,000.
Guzman is scheduled to enter a plea on Thursday. A public defender has been assigned to his case.
