Gary Neville lists THREE key reasons Man Utd have struggled since Sir Alex Ferguson as he insists managers not to blame
GARY NEVILLE has listed three reasons why Manchester United have struggled to succeed since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The legendary Scottish manager, 81, won 13 Premier League titles during his iconic 27-year stint at Old Trafford.
He left in 2013 after clinching his final league title and Man Utd have failed to replicate his glory years over the past decade.
The Red Devils have not won the league since Fergie’s exit, with David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all failing to do so.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick also endured a difficult five-month spell in charge.
Man Utd’s trophy haul since the Ferguson years stands at just one FA Cup, two League Cups and the Europa League.
Neville, an eight-time Premier League winner and part of the 1999 Treble team under Ferguson, does not believe the managers are to blame for the drop off.
And he has highlighted a trio of more critical reasons for the club’s decline.
During a Twitter Q&A, the former England right-back was asked who the best manager of the post-Ferguson era has been.
To which he replied: “All very good managers but hampered by the ownership, (there’s a) lack of good leadership below the owners and poor recruitment.”

Neville has been critical of Man Utd’s owners, the Glazer family, for a number of years.
They looked set to sell the club earlier this year when Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe were in a bidding war to take over.
But Jassim has now withdrawn from the lengthy process, with Ratcliffe set to claim a 25 per cent stake that would leave the Glazers with majority control.
On the pitch, Man Utd have lost four of their opening nine Premier League games.
They also suffered back-to-back defeats in their first two Champions League matches against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
However, they do head into Sunday’s Manchester derby against rivals Manchester City off the back of three wins over Brentford, Sheffield United and Copenhagen.
