WITH the windy weather creeping in, people will soon be looking for ways to prevent their homes from getting cold.
So, if you know that your old, draughty windows are the main cause, then look no further…because a money-saving whizz has shared the bargain buy he uses to take care of it.
And the best part of all? It costs just £11 from Amazon.
“Insulating a window for winter is incredibly easy, and it actually comes in a full kit,” he says, in a post shared to TikTok (@royce_renovations).
The man, who jokes that he’s been insulating windows for 814 years, then shows off the ‘3M Interior Shrink Film Window Kit 2141W-6’ he swears by, which claims to “lower heating costs and saves energy.”
“You start by applying this 3m double sided tape,” he explains.
“You can simply place it on your trim, or you can do it on the wall paint.”
Once it’s all taped up, he starts by removing the very top piece, and then sticking the piece of window film nice and even.

He warns: “If you try and remove all the tape cover and try to do this, it makes a real big mess in a quick hurry,” he explains. “So just a little bit at a time.
“And also don’t try to rush this – you don’t need to be a hero.
“If you wrinkle up that plastic and you get it on the tape, then you pull it apart, it’s going to rip, so nice and easy.
He goes on to say that the second to last step is just trim up all the extra, and for the last Step, you need a hair dryer.
“Applying the heat from the hair dryer shrinks up the plastic a bit, and it gets it really nice and tight,” he explains.
The money-saving guru goes on to say how his top tip is also renter friendly.
“The only time it ever affects the trim is when it’s on for multiple years,” he notes.
