Paul O’Grady fans in tears as late TV legend reappears on social media for his ‘favourite day of the year’

PAUL O’Grady fans were moved to tears last night as a video of the late star was shared on his Instagram page.

The upload from Paul’s management team honoured the much-loved presenter on his favourite day of the year: Halloween.

In it, Paul displayed his trademark humour while dressed as a witch holding a smoking broom stick.

He said: “Well I was supposed to go to, let’s call it a little gathering tonight. As you can see, my engine’s overheated. I’ll have to get the bus.”

Acting exasperated, he then storms after after exclaiming: “P***ed off.”

The video came with the caption: “Halloween is Paul’s favourite day on the calendar. Happy Halloween, everyone!”

Fans appreciated the short skit, though it did bring them to tears.

One said: “Made me cry miss you Paul.”

A second posted: “Still can’t quite come to terms with the fact that you’re no longer here… missed by so many xx.”

Another said: “It seems so unreal i keep expecting Paul to pop up wish he was here to celebrate Halloween with us again. So sadly missed [crying emojis].”

A fourth shared: “Videos like this make me remember how much we miss him.”

Last month Paul’s husband Andre Portasio revealed at a memorial gathering how the star died while smoking a spliff.

Paul, 67, passed away peacefully in March as they shared a cannabis joint at their home in Kent.

The telly favourite nipped into the kitchen to make a “cup of tea” on the night he died — their special code for rolling a spliff.

He came back into the living room to smoke the cannabis joint with his long-term partner before passing away in a chair.

Andre revealed their poignant final hours together at an emotional memorial event, where celebrities including Alan Carr, Amanda Holden and Dawn French gathered to remember their much-loved pal.

The Brazilian also told a string of anecdotes — some outrageous — as guests laughed affectionately about Paul, who died in March at home in Kent.

Andre, who married the Lily Savage star in 2017, said: “We’d had a very ordinary day, just watching TV together at home, when Paul said he wanted to make a ‘cup of tea,’ and that was our little code for rolling a spliff.

“So Paul went to the kitchen to make a cup of tea, brought it back, lit it and started smoking it – and that was our last time together, the last thing we did. He passed away there in his chair.”
