Four-step method to demist your windscreen in half the time… plus £1 item to stop it happening again
RAC have revealed a revolutionary method to demist you car in half the time – and also a dirt cheap item to prevent it happening again.
Misty windscreens are something none of us want to deal with this winter and luckily we no longer have to.
The car dealer’s have shared a four step method that will get you on the road in no time.
The four steps involve your car’s heater, air-con, windows and climate control.
The first step is to start the heater off cold and direct it at the windscreen and windows, then slowly increase the temperature.
Next the driver should turn on the air-con to keep the atmosphere dry.
The third is to roll down the windows if you don’t have air-con.
And the final step is if you have a setting for demisting your windows then you should use it.
They explained: “use the air-con in conjunction with the heater.
Hot air will dry the glass a little through evaporation, but the air will then cool down and condense on the glass once more, so make sure the air-con is on to keep the atmosphere inside dry.
They added that although it might seem counter-intuitive, rolling down the windows helps with de-misting as “the dry, cold air from outside can help reduce the amount of water vapour inside the car, stopping the screen misting up.”
RAC also told of an unexpected way to prevent the steam in the first place – using a £1 household item.
They said: “A handy tip to go the extra mile is to actually clean your windscreen with shaving foam.
“This protective barrier won’t last forever and may need to be repeated regularly, but a windscreen cleaned with shaving foam will be less likely to mist up.”
