The Jharkhand High Court has awarded a compensation of Rs 8 lakh to the family of a woman who died while crossing railway tracks at Garhwa Town Railway Station in 2017. The court held the East Central Railway's Hajipur division negligent for not providing proper lights and a foot overbridge at the station. The woman was hit by another train while crossing the tracks and was found dead. The court ordered the compensation to be paid with 6% interest.
