CT man on parole charged with having ‘substantial amount of illegal drugs’ in Meriden

A man who was on parole was charged with alleged drug possession in Meriden, police said.

Parole officers searched the home of Stephen Pennyman, 34, after reports that he was possibly breaking the law while on parole and allegedly found “a substantial amount of illegal drugs” inside his home, according to the Meriden Police Department.

The Waterbury District Parole and Community Services worked with Meriden police and seized crack cocaine, ecstasy, oxycodone pills and cash, police said.

Pennyman is charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell, police said.

Court records show that he has previously been convicted of criminal damage to property, second-degree robbery and attempt to commit first-degree robbery.

Pennyman was remanded back to prison by parole, police said, and his bond was set at $100,000.

“This case is another great example of two agencies working together to help make the community safer,” said Meriden police Chief Roberto M. Rosado in a statement.
