‘The best I’ve seen’ – Maddison admits he has been impressed by Spurs man

James Maddison says Ange Postecoglou is the best motivational speaker he has come across in his footballing career.

Postecoglou has shown that he is an excellent communicator in his interactions with the media and he uses that skill to good effect when he addresses his players.

Spurs fans will have already seen footage of some of the inspirational team talks that he has given over the course of his managerial career (Optus Sport).

The Standard reported last week that the Tottenham head coach’s team meetings do not just revolve around tactics but can also span topics such as morality, the need for hard work and the importance of family. 

Ange Postecoglou is a top-tier motivational speaker

Several Spurs stars have already spoken about the impact that Postecoglou’s team talks have on them (Fabrizio Romano), and Maddison has now admitted that the 58-year-old is the best he has seen at getting the players up for a game.

The England international said on A League of Their Own: “He’s a proper motivational speaker. He doesn’t say too much during the week. 

“He keeps it all to match day and match day minus one, but in the meetings when he’s trying to get the lads going pre-game he’s probably the best I have seen to be fair.”

There is no doubt that Postecoglou is a cut above the rest when it comes to his communication skills. However, it is obvious that the Australian’s messaging will work when results are positive. The true challenge and test of his messaging will come when the team is going through a poor run.
