Sean Wotherspoon Crafts the Adidas Gazelle Indoor With a Hemp Knit Upper

Following up on a version of the sneaker made out of mushroom leather and limited to just 200 pairs, Sean Wotherspoon is continuing his vegan streak for the Adidas Gazelle with a pair that utilizes hemp and will have much wider availability.

The vintage guru has been teasing the Gazelle Indoor for the better part of 2023, and Adidas has officially announced it’ll release in mid-November. The green and white upper is made out of hemp and has been executed entirely through embroidery — giving it a look and feel that’s distinct from the Gazelle’s typical suede construction. This texture carries over to the tongue, despite the fact that it appears to be made from a rubber mold.

A translucent gum rubber forms the cupsole, giving a great look at how its construction differs from other types of sole units. Wotherspoon’s logo is then stitched onto a berry red mustache, while a “Hemp” hangtag beneath includes the Adidas trefoil logo that routinely draws comparisons to a marijuana leaf. Inside, you’ll find a cork insole — another throughline in Wotherspoon’s bid for sustainability throughout his sneaker collabs.

Last month, Wotherspoon took to Instagram to express that the hemp iteration is his favorite colorway for the Gazelle and his particular pleasure in how the translucent gum sole turned out. He’d been teasing the sneaker on the platform dating all the way back to March.

The Sean Wotherspoon x Adidas Gazelle Indoor “Hemp” will release Nov. 15 through the Adidas Confirmed app and select additional retailers. The retail price is set at $140.
