A man was caught selling lenses used for post-cataract surgery at District Hospital in Noida. He demanded Rs 12,000 for a lens from a private company, claiming government ones were inferior. The Noida-based patient's family spoke to the man for a few minutes before sensing something amiss. The hospital staff found the man suspicious and took him to the chief medical superintendent's office, who called the police. The man was identified as a resident of Sadarpur, and CMS Dr Renu Agarwal filed a police complaint. The hospital is conducting an internal inquiry. The district hospital's new building has been an easy target for mischief. On November 5, thieves stole taps from the eighth floor. In an intervention at MYH in Indore, doctors removed three arrows from an elderly man. A quack was arrested for referring patients to the illegally-operated Agarwal Medical Centre in Delhi. The centre manipulated patients' records and had a filthy operation theatre. A UN team visited Gaza's Shifa Hospital and found 291 patients still there, including 32 critically ill babies. The team plans to evacuate the patients to overwhelmed hospitals in southern Gaza.
