Shoppers are going wild for £1.50 Christmas dinner returning to Iceland after four year absence

SHOPPERS are going wild for a £1.50 Christmas dinner returning to Iceland after a four-year break.

The meal has all the festive trimmings – turkey, sage and onion stuffing, smoked bacon, Brussels sprouts, sweetened dried cranberries and a pig in a blanket.

Food lovers are already raving about the much-loved Festive Pie[/caption]

But, the ingredients are diced up and sit under a buttery puff pastry lid – inside the discount supermarket’s famed Festive Pie.

Iceland first launched the Christmas meal in 2019, and have now put it back on chilled shelves for the first time since.

And food lovers are already going wild after getting their hands on one – or rushing out to grab a box.

One woman wrote on a Facebook post announcing the pie’s comeback: “My mum and I tried these a few weeks ago, they’re absolutely delicious.”

Another person wrote: “I had this last night, delish”, and another said: “I love these, I’ve eaten two boxes in the last month.”

Others dubbed the pies “yummy”, “really tasty”, and “awesome”.

People who hadn’t managed to get their hands on the pastry yet were quick to share their excitement about when they do.

One person wrote: “Iceland, is this actually legal?

“Never had one before but have just put my coat on and on my way now. Hope I won’t be disappointed.”

Another said: “Well I know what I’m looking out for when I go shopping on Tuesday.”

Others wrote: “That’s my Christmas dinner sorted.”

Andrew Staniland, Group Buying Director at Iceland Foods & The Food Warehouse said: “Since we launched the Festive Pie in 2019, we have been inundated with customers asking for its return, so we’re delighted to bring it back this year.

“An entire Christmas dinner encased in puff pastry. What’s not to love? Perfect for those who want a slice of the festive action ahead of Christmas Day, we are already seeing shoppers stock up.”

The festive feast is £3 for two pies, and can be snapped up at most Iceland stores.

Brits are always hunting for a festive meal – especially if it’s a bargain.

One dad recently went to Wetherspoons for a Christmas dinner as the meal was just £15.50.

Lee Davey tried the festive feast at one of Blackpool‘s pubs, and while he said it was “tasty” there was one thing he was left yearning for.

The chain revealed earlier this month that its festive menu was returning.

The menu is filled with classics, including everything you’d expect on your Christmas dinner plate and more.

It became available at more than 800 Wetherspoon pubs across the UK last week.

It comes as McDonald’s recently launched a Christmas menu – and The Sun was one of the first to try it.
