Shawn Johnson Gives the Sweetest Updates on Newborn Son & We’re So Happy for Her Family of Five
ICYMI: Shawn Johnson is now a mom of three! The Olympic gold medalist shared in her Family Made newsletter that she welcomed Barrett “Bear” Madison East via C-section on Dec. 12 (Yes, 12/12!) She also had C-sections with kids Drew, 3 and Jett, 2, and so she admitted she felt more prepared.
“It’s definitely a major surgery and wild to think about doing it a third time but there was something comforting about walking in and knowing what to expect,” she continued. “Recovery is always a process and I’ve learned to be really patient with my body. Not trying to rush anything and really just going to soak it all in.”
And soaking it all in she is! She’s already shared pictures and videos of so many sweet snuggles with her *ahem* snuggle bear, and the proud mama just shared more updates on how her newborn is doing. In the first picture that she shared on her Instagram story, Bear is all scrunched up on her shoulder, showing off his full head of hair and looking so sleepy and precious in his blue outfit.
“Just got back from first doctors visit,” Johnson wrote on the picture. “Little man is crushing it. Aced it all.”
And if you — like many followers — were wondering about the “stats,” that “little” man is now 8 pounds and 21 inches. The final clip Johnson shared is another of a sleepy Bear, but this time he’s dressed in a green outfit with mitts for his little hands.
“This baby is an absolute angel,” she wrote on the video, explaining that he slept over 8 hours last night! “Eats like a champ. Gives the best cuddles. Don’t ever grow up.”
Are you kidding?! We want to cuddle that sleepy little angel! Just 1 week old and already sleeping for eight hours?!
On Sunday, Johnson shared a heart-warming video of East and their older kids, dubbing him the “wrangler of the ‘bigs,'” so it was unsurprising to see that while she was posting updates about Bear, he was posting updates about Drew and Jett.
In videos on his Instagram story, the retired football player is in his home gym with Drew. They are lifting “matching” barbells that have the same colors — but far from the same weight. The two do some bent-over rows, and East talks his daughter through them. “Down, up, do another one,” he says. After a few, he drops his barbell, ruffles Drew’s hair, and says, “You’re my dude.”
Later, he shares a picture of Drew and Jett on their rock-climbing wall dressed in Spider-Man costumes.
“The spideys,” he wrote over the shot.
The spideys and the Bear. Sounds like you could have a great children’s book on your hands, Johnson-East fam!
