‘Oh my God, gorgeous’ woman praised after showing off new kitchen from Ikea, including a new sink, dishwasher and oven
A CASH-SAVVY woman has revealed how she transformed her dull council house kitchen on a budget thanks to an offer from IKEA.
On average, a brand new kitchen can cost anywhere from £10k to an astronomical £20k – or even more if you’re after a more luxe designer feel with the latest appliances and gadgets.
But now one thrifty mum-of-three, only known as @thetownsendssss, has shared how she gave her kitchen a makeover on the cheap, spending just a fraction of the price.
Rather than forking out a fortune, the parent, who lives in a council home, spent £5k for the transformation process – and it’s all thanks to shopping at IKEA.
According to @thetownsendssss, who is currently in the works of renovating the property’s living room, she had bagged a kitchen unit from the popular store for £5k.
The bargain deal, she revealed in a video shared on TikTok, came with most of the appliances needed, including a dishwasher and a sink.
The once dull kitchen, which featured grey flooring and outdated cupboards, had now been ditched for a more sleek and modern look.
The original floors were replaced by a chic herringbone flooring in light grey, which the cash-savvy mum had picked up for less than £40.
Meanwhile, the old wooden cupboards were binned for elegant whites ones, which went perfectly with the marble-effect worktop and the stove.
According to the thrifty parent, the kitchen unit was ”so easy to put up” and the total costs would be cheaper if you opted to find the appliances elsewhere.
”Still bits to do but getting there,” the DIY enthusiast added in the clip, which has left several people inspired to give their homes a new look.
Dozens flocked to comments to praise the mu, with one writing: ”Oh my God, gorgeous!”
Someone else agreed, writing: ”Wow, you’ve done a stunning job, it’s gorgeous!”
”Absolutely beautiful,” a third chimed in.
”Woah this is crazy, u smashed it,” another penned.
Is Ikea open over the bank holiday?
Many retailers close on certain days over the festive period and the furniture giant Ikea is no different.
All of its stores across England and Wales will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Their opening hours may also vary on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, The Sun recently revealed.
