Nike’s Chinese New Year Celebration Boasts an Air Force 1 Low Sneaker With a Peach, Translucent Sole
More sneakers continue to surface from Nike‘s annual celebration of the Chinese New Year, now featuring an Air Force 1 Low with a brilliant translucent sole unit and scaly details fit for the Year of the Dragon.
Beginning with a classic all-white base, the Air Force 1 Low “Year of the Dragon” boasts a two-tone translucent sole unit with peach for the midsole and pink for the outsole. The Swoosh is now rendered as a smoky grey bubble with a grid visible underneath, while the suede mustache takes on a scale texture with yellow and green gradient trim. A silver, holographic tongue badge sees a dragon wrapped around the Swoosh, while a detachable iridescent carabiner comes in the shape of curled dragon as well. Chinese characters are also printed on a white insole.
Among the other highlights of Nike’s forthcoming Chinese New Year collection is a Ja 1 that continues to showcase Ja Morant’s love of themed sneakers. The white, blue, and gold sneaker also features dragon motifs, including a dragon twisted into an infinity symbol for the lace dubraes and printed gold scale graphics for the midfoot panel.
Although Nike’s annual Chinese New Year sneakers are usually revered to begin with, the newest is boosted further by dragons being inherently cooler than, say, a rat or a rooster.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Year of the Dragon” will release during the spring 2024 season. Further launch details have yet to be confirmed, but there is a nontrivial chance the sneaker drops as a China- or Asia-exclusive. This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
