Manchester United have no plans to activate the option to sign Sofyan Amrabat permanently next summer, according to the Sun.
The Morocco international midfielder joined the Red Devils on loan from Fiorentina last summer, but he has struggled to impress.
Man United manager Erik ten Hag is already planning for Amrabat’s departure as there are question marks against whether he is the right fit for the Premier League.
The 27-year-old has struggled with the pace of the English top flight, and the emergence of academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo has also made signing him permanently unnecessary.
The teenage sensation has hit the ground running since his first Premier League start against Everton, and he has also impressed against Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
Mainoo has moved ahead of Amrabat in the pecking order, and the Moroccan is expected to leave Man United at the end of his loan deal.
There is some serious concern about him behind the scenes, and he has not done enough to convince the coaching staff of his suitability for the Premier League.
The Red Devils are expected to ring major squad changes over the next two transfer windows, with incoming co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe desperate to improve the club’s fortunes once he takes over their footballing operations.
The midfield is a department Man United are desperate to improve, and they have already been linked with Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.
The Belgium international is an upgrade on Amrabat, but the Toffees want €55 million for his services and are not keen on selling him next month.
The Moroccan is not the only player expected to leave the Old Trafford club at the end of the campaign, with Anthony Martial, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Casemiro also linked with potential exits next month and in the summer.
