Prep roundup: Blair’s triple-double at prestigious tournament helps De La Salle stay perfect

No. 1 De La Salle 72, Campbell Hall 62

Alec Blair had perhaps the best game of his three-year high school career in De La Salle’s opening-round victory at the Classic at Damien. 

The 6-foot-7 four-star prospect had 23-point, 10-rebound and 10-assist triple-double as the Spartans improved to 11-0. 

Of course, high assist totals are only possible if teammates are making shots. Braddock Kjellsvig, a transfer from Christopher, scored 18 points. Meanwhile, Arshawn Salkhi also poured in 18 points.

De La Salle took control in the third quarter, when it stretched the 30-26 lead to 56-39. 

No. 2 Salesian 70, Windward-Los Angeles 66

Salesian stayed calm down the stretch to finish off the come-from-behind victory against Windward at the Classic at Damien tournament. 

After trailing 23-14 at the end of the first quarter, Salesian cut the deficit to 30-29 at halftime. With around 10 seconds left in the game, Salesian had the ball with the score tied at 64. 

Calm and collected point guard Aaron Claytor threw a perfect entry pass to Alvin Loving IV, who converted the layup in traffic to give the Richmond private school a 66-64 lead.

While Windward made only two of its four free throws, Salesian’s Zander Jimenez knocked down all four of his freebies to seal the victory. 

Salesian (11-0) could get a rematch with Centennial-Corona on Thursday afternoon. The Pride defeated Centennial 62-51 at another showcase on Dec. 16. 

No. 16 Ygnacio Valley 65, Urban-San Francisco 61

Ygnacio Valley rebounded from a tough loss to Salesian by closing out a tight victory over Urban-SF at the Bambauer Classic in Marin. 

Antonio Kellogg Jr. scored a game-high 21 points and also dished out five assists, while Loyal Morris filled up the box score with 15 points, six rebounds and six assists. 

TJ Tatom had nine points, eighth in the second half, while teammate Terrance Murphy Jr. scored eight points. 6-10 big-man Evan McKnight had six points as the Wolves set up a Thursday showdown with St. Ignatius. 

St. Ignatius 82, Archie Williams 56

St. Ignatius routed Archie Williams at the Bambauer Classic to improve to 6-1. Raymond Whitley scored 21 points and also grabbed seven rebounds, and Marcus Bast put in 14 points and dished out six assists.

Vince Crisp scored 11 points and had eight assists, while Sebastian Fisher, Steele Labagh and Shawn Boquiren each scored nine points apiece. The Wildcats will play Ygnacio Valley on Thursday.
