Map shows hundreds of flood alerts across the UK after Storm Henk

Hundreds of flood warnings including one ‘danger to life’ warning are in place across the UK thanks to Storm Henk.

Heavy rain and winds of up to 94mph have caused severe disruption for rail passengers, while raging flood water has led to a driver and three-year-old passenger being rescued from their trapped car.

The Environment Agency has put 332 flood warnings in place in England as rain from Storm Henk falls onto already saturated ground, increasing water levels.

The most severe, a ‘danger to life’ warning, is in place at the River Nene at Billing Aquadrome and nearby business parks on the outskirts of Northampton.

A spokesman warned: ‘This warning has been issued due to deep and fast flowing water and a rapid onset of flooding. This means there is danger to life and you must act now.

‘Call 999 if in immediate danger, follow advice from emergency services, keep yourself and your family safe.

‘Severe flooding is expected imminently. Water levels are continuing to rise on the River Nene at Billing Aquadrome and nearby business parks, the water may be deep and fast flowing. Please evacuate the area.’

There are a further 331 flood warnings, which means ‘flooding is expected’ – with a map of the alerts showing just how widespread the issue has become.

Natural Resources Wales has implemented 50 flood warnings, including one severe warning covering the River Ritec at Tenby.

In Scotland, there are two flood alerts and one flood warning in place, but none are currently in place in Northern Ireland.
