Burgundy meet
Dates Saturday 18th May to Friday 24th May
The meet will be split between two camp sites to provide the greatest variety of activities in this delightful area.
First stop is Chagny, using the Camping Paquier Fane https://www.

From here we have a number of crags within a relatively short drive, including Cormot, Remigny and Mount Rome. In addition Chagny is situated on the Canal du Centre with the excellent paved Voie Verte within 1km of the site. Here we are close to the famous vineyards of the Bourgogne and the picturesque town of Beaune. Chagny has a station so is accessible by rail.

Camping lac du Pont, as the name suggests, is situated next to a lake where swimming is easily accessible. There is also a 12km walk around the lake. From a climbing point of view we have the option of limestone or granite sport within easy reach. Semur is very close, although you have to balance the ease of access and flat grassy base of the crag with the nearby sewage works. Slightly further afield are Vieux Château and Montbard.
It would be easily possible to combine trips to Saffres, Hauteroche or even Avallon, either during the transition day or by driving for less than an hour from the sites.
All in all there is plenty of variety to make for a delightful holiday experience.
We propose people joining the meet make their own travelling arrangements including camping bookings. If potential attendees contact us we will advise when online site booking is open and the secret code to use to ensure we can all be close together on the site (subject to the idiosyncrasies of French camp site guardians)
The format of the meet will be a casual affair, we are not proposing to host BBQs or matchmake regarding climbing partners. We have visited the areas fairly often, and recently, and will be happy to share what we know to allow folks to get the most out of their trip while they are there.
Following on from the meet we will be heading to Fontainebleau to join a group of friends, if you’d like to extend onto Font (not a meet) we’d be happy to share camp site info.
