Saltburn fans are travelling to Northamptonshire to visit the house in the controversial movie – here’s how you can too
IT’S the film that EVERYONE is talking about.
And many of the viewers who fell in love with Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn are even taking a trip to Northamptonshire to catch a glimpse of Drayton House – which served as the setting for the movie.
One woman who lives near the sprawling estate took to TikTok to share directions to the Grade 1 listed Drayton House, much to the delight of others.
First of all, PR consultant Rhian said you need to get to a place called Lowick, and find a pub called the Snooty Fox.
You can park there, and walk to the nearby Drayton Road.
“Go down this for a little while, past these cottages, and we went past some nice little horses on the left,” she continued in her video.
“Then over the river, there’s a water feature on the left, up this line, there’s a path at the end here and then you get to the estate.
“And this is a public footpath you can see here – right up past the side of the house, and then you see the entrance.”
You can go through the gate to get closer to the house, but the house itself is closed to the public.
People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “This is 5 minutes up the road from me and I had no idea!
“Nor did I make the connection!”
“lol I live 20mins away hahah,” another added.
“SALTBURN WAS FILMED IN MY COUNTY????? ARE YOU TAKING THE MICK?” a third raged.
“The snooty fox also serves the most proper lovely pie mushy pea chip and gravy I’ve ever had,” someone else raved.
But another person commented: “Also remember to please give the Sackville family some privacy as it is their home and having movie fans gawking all the time isn’t fun for anyone.”
“You can’t get very close – the footpath is some way away and I zoomed in…” Rhian replied.
“It isn’t trespassing if you’re on a public footpath which us what this video says… the footpath is some distance from the house.”
“I will say the house has a ton of CCTV on, so behave, and they are hard working people,” someone else said.
Speaking previously about the importance of the house, writer and director Emerald told Architectural Digest that the fact Drayton House had never been featured on screen before was key to her securing it.
“The house was so important, and it needed to be something that hadn’t been used before,” she said.
“This hadn’t been photographed even, let alone put on film.
“We always wanted the exact sense that it is a real place.”
Saltburn stars Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoghan, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, and tells the story of a university student who invites a fellow student back to his eccentric family’s estate when he becomes obsessed with him.
While the film was critically-acclaimed and is expected to be recognised in the Oscar nominations, certain parts of it – including the much talked-about ‘bath scene’ – have left viewers disgusted.
