Report: Spurs scouted 23-year-old Premier League star over the weekend 

The Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s scouts watched Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White in action against Manchester United on Sunday.

It has been widely reported over the past week by various outlets that Ange Postecoglou wants to bring a number eight through the door in January (The Telegraph).

While many reports over recent days have backed Spurs to make a move for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher (Gianluca Di Marzio), The Mail have now suggested Spurs also have an eye on another young English midfielder in the form of Gibbs-White.

Spurs scouts watched Gibbs-White against United

The report claims that representatives from the Lilywhites were in attendance at the City Ground to watch the 23-year-old in action against the Red Devils on Saturday.

They would have been impressed by what they saw as the youngster delivered one of his best performances of the season and netted an 82nd-minute winner as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men emerged 2-1 winners.

Having successfully raided Forest for Brennan Johnson in the summer, perhaps the North London club will fancy their chances of swooping for another one of the Midlands club’s young prodigies.

Postecoglou is said to be keen on signing a versatile number eight, who can also operate a little deeper, and Gibbs-White fits the bill perfectly. Like Gallagher, he is also young and homegrown, but I suspect the Chelsea star remains Tottenham’s top target.
