Four children have died in a fire that raced through a two-family home in the northeastern Connecticut town of Somers. Fire and town officials said the children who died in Tuesday night's blaze were ages 5, 6, 8 and 12. A litter of puppies also was killed. Authorities say a mother and her seven children lived on one side of the home, and four others who escaped serious injury were in the other side at time. Officials say the mother was not home and three of her children, including her 19-year-old daughter, escaped by jumping from the second floor. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
