United extend £90,000-a-week star’s contract until 2025 - Report
Manchester United have triggered the 12-month extension clause in Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s contract, according to the Daily Mail.
The 26-year-old’s deal at Old Trafford was set to expire in the summer but United have extended his stay until 2025.
Initial talks for a new contract reportedly started in September, but the Red Devils opted to trigger the one-year extension last week.
Wan-Bissaka, who currently earns £90,000-a-week wages, joined the club from Crystal Palace in 2019.
He has made 274 senior appearances in all competitions, with two goals to his name.
Raphael Varane’s contract is also expiring at the end of the season, but the club wants him to take a pay cut to extend his stay.
United make the right decision
Wan-Bissaka has been an important member of Erik ten Hag’s team this season.
The 26-year-old impressed Erik ten Hag with his performances during the second half of the previous campaign.
He ultimately made 19 top-flight appearances, helping his side finish third in the table.
The Englishman doesn’t offer much attacking threat, but his defensive numbers have always been excellent.
He has averaged an impressive 1.4 interceptions, 2.1 tackles and 2.3 clearances per game in the top flight this season.
Unlike many other players, Wan-Bissaka’s salary is not a massive financial burden for the club as he is currently on £90,000-a-week wages.
The club have made the right decision to extend his stay.
