My wedding is next week & my parents are refusing to come, they think I’m out of line but people call them ‘delusional’
A GROOM has revealed that his parents don’t want to come to the wedding because he won’t change his date for his troubled sister.
People online sided with the groom, saying his parents were acting “delusional.”
A Reddit user named Kye shared his wedding story on the Am I The A**hole forum.
The post has garnered more than 900 upvotes and generated 120 responses.
Kye’s little sister, 20-year-old Gigi, is spending a month in jail for driving under the influence.
“The problem here is my parents always favored Gigi no matter what,” he said. “I was always the disappointment growing up.”
The groom, 23-year-old Kye, said he and his family were “never close.”
His parents, however, think he’s being unreasonable for not changing the date a week before his wedding.
“They said I was being rude and they wouldn’t come without my sister,” he wrote.
“So I told them don’t speak to me again if you’re not going to be supportive of me,” Kye continued.
“My sister has an excuse not to come but they have none,” he concluded.
“All my life they left me out and this was the one time they could have shown they loved me,” Kye finished.
Ultimately, other people on Reddit decided that Kye was not the “a**hole.”
“Your parents thinking a whole wedding should move because of one guest is ridiculous,” one person wrote.
“You can’t wave a magic wand to change the date, so get married,” a second said.
“They are delusional,” a third added. “Are they going to pay all the cancellation fees as well as reimburse everybody’s plane tickets?”
