Sam (Rajasthan): From enduring scorching temperatures of 55 degrees Celsius in summer to freezing winters at zero degrees Celsius, BSF personnel stationed along the Indo-Pakistan border in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district face numerous challenges. Blinding sandstorms force them to switch from SUVs to camels for patrolling, making it vital for them to learn how to ride these animals. Commandant Manjit Singh emphasized the importance of maintaining strict vigilance along the 464 km-long boundary to prevent intrusion or drug trafficking. The extreme weather conditions necessitate an acclimatization process for the troops, and there are plans to introduce "cool jackets" to help combat the high temperatures.
