World population at 8 billion on January 1, up 75 million this year
WASHINGTON D.C.: On December 28, data released by the U.S. Census Bureau showed that the global population grew by 75 million people over the past year, totaling more than eight billion people on New Year's Day.
According to the Census Bureau figures, the global growth rate in 2023 was just under 1 percent, and at the start of 2024, 4.3 births and two deaths are expected every second around the world.
