Club Claimed To Have Been In Talks For Several Weeks To Sign Leeds United Star
Everton have been in talks with Leeds United for several weeks to try to find an agreement to sign Willy Gnonto, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti.
Following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship, the Italian forward wanted to leave and went on strike to force an exit.
Everton were front of the queue for Gnonto, but Leeds stood firm and kept the attacker, eventually reintegrating him into the team.
In the ongoing season, Gnonto has featured 20 times for Leeds in the league but has failed to establish himself in Daniel Farke’s starting line-up.
It has been suggested that Everton have retained their interest in the winger and they want to sign Gnonto in the January window.
It is suggested that talks have been happening behind the scenes for several weeks as Everton try to put a deal in place.
Sean Dyche is an admirer of the winger and believes that the Leeds star will be able to improve his squad.
Gnonto has a contract until June 2027 with the Whites and it remains to be seen whether both parties will be able to agree on a deal.
