Non-league football pitch completely underwater with only goalposts visible after Storm Henk causes mayhem

A NON-LEAGUE team’s season threatens to become a total wash-out as Storm Henk causes yet more mayhem.

Only the goalposts are currently visible at the Myrak Park home of Buckhurst Hill FC.

The Essex Senior League, which is level nine on the pyramid, were forced to call off their game at home to Romford on Wednesday due to a waterlogged pitch.

The full extent of the damage caused by the storm has now been revealed with these incredible snaps.

As the aerial shots show, the posts are the only things left visible of their pitch.

Meanwhile the dug-outs can be spotted rising up out of the water while their main stand is also submerged after severe flooding.

Storm Henk is causing chaos across the country with a cold weather alert also being issued by the Met Office.

We reported this week how fans were fearing that Premier League Nottingham Forest’s pitch could be flooded after footage emerged of the River Trent rising around the City Ground.

Racecourse tracks, Powerleague venues and Worcester cricket ground are just some of the sporting venues that have been submerged due to the extreme conditions.

Now Buckhurst Hill are the latest sporting victims of the storm.

They launched their senior team in 2004 and have gone on to rise up the ranks, winning the Premier Division Championship twice, before moving into the Thurlow Nunn League Division One South.

They won promotion at the first time of asking last term and are now competing in the Essex Senior League.

However, it seems unlikely that they will be playing on home soil any time soon after their pitch was left completely underwater.

But they are still set for match action tomorrow as they travel to Frenford FC in the league.
